Vertiv, Columbus, OH, has introduced the eSure C48/58-1000 Power Extend converter to the North American market.
According to the company, the compact device economically boosts voltage up to -58 VDC to support increasing 5G-technology-related power needs of remote radio heads on cell towers.
The eSure C48/58-1000 plugs into an existing DC distribution panel in the same position as a single-pole bullet circuit breaker, thus conserving usable space (0U of additional rack space, in contrast to conventional converter solutions that consume up to 4U of rack space).
While this new converter replaces a single-pole circuit breaker, Vertiv notes that the device provides the traditional overcurrent-protection function of the breaker.
In addition to saving space, the eSure C48/58-1000 conserves considerable energy, while performing above 98% efficiency. Multiple units can operate in parallel to support radios requiring over 1kW of input power.
