According to Rockwell Automation, Milwaukee, industrial operations can improve their energy-efficiency and reduce machine complexity with a new fanless version of the Allen-Bradley Kinetix VPC continuous-duty servo motor. The recently launched model uses the same interior permanent magnet technology as the original fan-version. In addition allowing the motor to achieve IES energy-efficiency ratings (IE4 and IE5), removal of the fan reduces wiring and components, thus saving even more on energy costs. The manufacturer notes that its VPC family of motors reduces torque ripple, which translates into smoother roll-to-roll web-handling processes critical for high-quality printing, tensioning and other application-specific tasks.
